Raising A Border Collie Pup

Within this article, we are going to discuss some tips that you should take into consideration when you are raising a Border collie pup. First and foremost, you need to make sure that you never allow the pup to get out of your sight. You will find that the longer the Border collie pup is able to do something that you don't want the pup to do, the harder it is going to be in order to put a stop to the pup's behavior.

Once you bring the pup home, you need to make sure that you don't swamp it with a lot of toys. In the event that there are always toys just lying around, your Border collie pup is going to become bored with them and is going to begin searching for something else that he is able to chew on. You may even want to consider thinking of purchasing a crate for the pup.

During quiet time, night time, and any other time that the canine is sleeping, the canine should be in the crate. Normally after meals, the pups are going to want to go on off to sleep. When it comes to house breaking your Border collie pup, instead of just plastering the floor with a lot of newspaper and then rewarding the dog when he goes to the bathroom on the paper, just have whomever is going to be watching the dog to take him outside every thirty minutes or every hour and immediately after drinking or eating.

At anytime that you are rewarding the canine for using the bathroom on the paper; you are still confusing the canine because you are teaching him that it is okay for the dog to go on the newspaper and outside. Most importantly, you shouldn't punish your canine for something that he doesn't understand is wrong.

Even though a pup can be extremely frustrating at times, you should remember that your Border collie pup doesn't know right from wrong, so therefore you are going to need to be attentive and patient. You should praise your canine every time that he does something that is worth being praised.

In the end, you have to make sure that your Border collie pup receives a lot of exercise because they are very energetic canines and they need to be released sometime or they are going to go completely crazy. Before you ever bring your new pup home, you need to make sure that you have everything that you are going to need in order to care for the pup.

You should also make sure that the pup's shot records are all up-to-date so that you are able to rest assure that you have a healthy pup.
